“Ralph Nader deserves enormous credit for the work he did as a consumer advocate,” Mr. Obama said in Lorain, Ohio,. “But his function as a perennial candidate is not putting food on the table of workers.”
"He thought that there was no difference between Al Gore and George Bush and, eight years later, I think people realize that Ralph did not know what he was talking about," Senator Barack Obama said a town-hall meeting Sunday, according to CNN.
“Well, you know his being on the Green Party prevented Al Gore from being the greenest president we’ve ever had,” Mrs. Clinton said. “And I think that’s really unfortunate.”
Senator Hillary Clinton called Nader's announcement "really unfortunate. I remember when he did this before, it didn't turn out too well for anyone, especially our country," she said, according to The New York Times. "I hope it's kind of just a passing fancy that people won't take too seriously."

"Nader was in fact a "consumer protection hero", much admired and respected for his research and conclusions. Unfortunately, he has now crossed the line of "Peter's Principle", and in doing so, has reached and passed on to the "level of his incompetency". How sad that his ego was not satisfied by his previous accomplishments. That ego is now enmeshed with behavior that can only bring ridicule to his image and a tired sigh from the nation.
